Is your mains board due an upgrade ???
New consumer units provide extra protection and are tested to prove trip out times of below 0.4 seconds under fault conditions.
- Fuses or circuit breakers (mcbs) do not offer the same personal protection.
- Fuses or circuit breakers will only trip or 'blow' when it detects a high level of electrical 'leakage'.
- RCDs will switch off at a very low level of electrical 'leakage' providing a much higher level of protection
